Thank you so much for inquiring about the tar River Writing Project! The TRWP Summer Institute is open to all teachers, K-College, across all disciplines.

The mission of the TRWP is to train teachers to be even better teachers of writing. Our primary method for accomplishing that work is the Summer Institute, an invitation-only four-week workshop for experienced teachers, participants share their knowledge with each other and sharped their own teaching through readings and participating in demonstrations.

After the summer is over, the participants stay active with the project by returning to their classrooms and engaging in their own teacher research, investigating problems they’ve observed as seasoned teachers and considering possible solutions.

Summer 2010 Dates

July 5 – July 30
Monday – Friday
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Participants receive 6 graduate credit hours and 9 CEUs for participation in the Summer Institute. Sixteen participants are selected from an open application process. All accepted applications receive free books and teaching materials; likewise, their tuition is paid by a grant from the National Writing Project.
